
Joel Wood

Born and raised in Waco,
Texas, Joel is a
singer/songwriter that was
raised on George Strait,
George Jones, Merle Haggard,
and 70's/80's country music.
As he got older he discovered
Bad Company, the Eagles,
Hootie & the Blowfish, and
eventually Whiskeytown
(Ryan Adams), Bruce Robison,
Jack Ingram, Robert Earl
Keen, Reckless Kelly, Wade
Bowen, and Randy Rogers - just to name a few of his influences.
Joel joined WSB in February of 1997 as the acoustic guitarist - and only
singing one or two songs a night. Now he's the lead guitarist and he and
David share the lead vocal duties 50/50. When WSB isn't performing, you
can often find Joel playing solo acoustic shows under his own name, and
also in the acoustic duo The Gravel Road Gypsies (with Lost Heart Highway
frontman Dustin Terral).
Joel is married and has 3 children and by day is a computer network
administrator. He is an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys,
Texas Longhorns. He loves to hear live music, watch baseball, and play golf.
